LANSING – State Representative Woodrow Stanley (D-Flint) today announced that he will host "Critical Times, Promising Opportunities," the first in a series of community meetings on Monday, March 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Family Life Center of the Vernon Chapel Church in Flint. Stanley holds these town hall-style events as a way to provide updates on what's going on in Lansing and to meet with residents to hear their thoughts, questions and concerns.
"People throughout Flint are struggling right now, and I want them to know that I'm fighting for them every day in Lansing," Stanley said. "I encourage residents to attend this meeting in order to learn about the services that are available to help them out in this tough economy."
Vernon Chapel Church is located at 5802 Dupont St. in Flint.
The event will also feature a panel discussion on tax preparation that will allow residents to hold on to more of their hard-earned money, including information about the Earned Income Tax Credit, as well as ways to prevent foreclosure and how to obtain access to unemployment assistance.
For more information, residents can contact Stanley's office toll-free at (888) 966-3034, or by e-mail at WoodrowStanley@house.mi.gov.
"You don't need me to tell you that we're going through some tough times right now," Stanley said. "I hope that with this event, we can provide some assistance for our residents that are struggling with this economic downturn."
